We support a diverse group of missions in the U.S. and worldwide.

The following are the missionaries we support at Valley Assembly. The ministry descriptions below are taken from their web sites or from the missionary pages of the Assemblies of God USA web site at A/G.org.

Missionaries in the United States

Steven and Rebecca Preston - Church Planting Ministries

The need for churches in Urban Southern California is almost beyond description With 12-15 million people from over 140 nations of the world, Urban SoCal needs both ethnic and "mainstream neighborhood" churches to reach those caught in grinding poverty as well as the "up and outers" who seem to need nothing, including Jesus ...But they all need Him and the most effective way of presenting him in a real, life changing-life long way is through new church planting!

Planting and Renewing Churches Reaching Southern California's Cities The Urban Task Force has been busy with 3 new church plants:

Woody & Claudia Robinson planted Family Christian Center in Watts. They have already had amazing impact in that needy community.

Jorge & Ruth Winney planted Centro Familar Cristiano in the same building Watts - and now the church runs over 80 in Sunday services.

On Easter Sunday, Joe Smotherman along with wife Dione held the first service of Faithworks in Ladera Heights. With an upper middle class neighborhood around them, Faithworks represents an effort to reach "up" to Urban dwellers who are not Inner City inhabitants.

Eric Thomure - Chi Alpha Campus Ministries

Who we are: Chi Alpha Campus Ministries is a Christian campus ministry on universities throughout the United States and around the world. We are a movement of college-age men and women earnestly following Jesus. We are not a fraternity or sorority. We invite everyone to be a part, regardless of background.

We meet on campus in groups of varying size and style. These gatherings are informal, infused with music and interaction, and cover topics from relationships to the nature of truth. These meetings are opportunities for students to meet God, each other, and the needs of the community.

Mission Statement: We will reconcile students to Christ, transforming the university, the marketplace and the world. We will accomplish this by creating a Spirit-empowered community reflecting our philosophy of ministry and core values.

Curtis and Teresa Hubbell - Motorcycle Chaplaincy

www.thunderroadministries.com

Motorcycle ministry is nothing new. A Christian presence is felt at many major motorcycle events around the country as groups from various churches try to reflect the love of Christ to a lost culture. The unique aspect of Thunder Road Ministries is that we seek to minister to the whole family. While attending and participating in numerous rallies, rides, and swap meets all over the U.S., we offer a full range of ministry including an up-beat program for children.

We hope that God will put a burden in your heart for this missionary work.

William and Diana Bjoraker - Intercultural Jewish Ministries

Bill Bjoraker
Founder and Director of Operation Ezekiel
"SHALOM!" WELCOME TO OPERATION EZEKIEL!
WHO WE ARE: Operation Ezekiel is an organization with a two-fold thrust:

Outreach to the Jewish Community. By various means and media, we communicate the Messiahship of Jesus, and the Jewishness of New Testament faith to Jewish people.

Educating and Equipping the Evangelical Church and the Messianic Jewish Movement. By various means and media we offer teaching and analysis from a biblical worldview perspective of the big issues of our times. It is vital for leaders to have intellectual command of the big ethical and spiritual challenges facing our contemporary world, in order to be people of influence to advance the purposes of God in our generation.

Ezekiel as our Patron Prophet:
The Hebrew prophet Ezekiel, and his fascinating book is the guiding visionary or mentor for our ministry. The themes, metaphors and images he imparted to us by Divine inspiration come to us from a time that is in remarkable ways similar to our own at the turn of the 21st century.

Well in the Desert, Palm Springs, CA

www.WellInTheDesert.org

The Well in the Desert does many things for many people. It was founded over ten years ago to address the needs of the homeless; and grew into an organization that now meets the needs of the homeless, the at-risk for homelessness, the working poor, many shut-in seniors, and those in need of food and Social Services.

The Well in the Desert serves a hot meal daily to over 100 people, and provides sandwiches daily for the homeless for an evening snack, while also preparing sandwiches and snacks for the lunchbag program at Our Lady of Solitude. The Well employs a Social Worker and an Administrative Assistant, who take care of a myriad of our clients needs, including counselling, referrals to medical and dental assistance, help with driver's licenses and ID cards, job referrals, bus passes, emergency housing, motel vouchers, emergency food, rent assistance, emergency clothing, and much more.

The Well has a weekend grocery distribution at our office on Indian Ave. Every Saturday, between 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. over 200 people can take home healthy groceries including meat, chicken, legumes and fruit; which ultimately helps to feed over 1000 people a month. Food distribution is also made available to shut-in seniors, and to La Serena, a Senior low-income retirement home. The Well also provides all the healthy food for Nightengale Manor, a home for homeless women and children. And, on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter the Well serves a beautiful meal and offers a holiday celebration to those in our community who need an understanding and helping hand.

The Well in the Desert is the only organization in the western end of the Coachella Valley that offers such a myriad of services to the people in need.

The U.S. Center for World Missions, Pasadena, CA

www.uscwm.org

A key part of the vision of the US Center for World Mission (USCWM) is to reach out across our land to share mission vision with people. We will finish evangelizing the world only if people in the grass roots of our churches—all across the continent—get involved!

Recent studies have shown that well over 95% of North American churches are in serious need of assistance in "doing mission". A lack of pastoral training regarding missions, among other reasons, has resulted in less understanding and passion for the Great Commission than Christ deserves from our pulpits, and our pews. The training which can generate that understanding and passion is a primary reason we have established Regional Offices. It is our mandate to help change this situation by coming along side of your church.

Realizing that people are much more eager to interact with folks in their own area than with organizations at a distance, the Regional Ministries Department of the USCWM was established. The regional representative in your area works on the cutting edge to provide information and tools, as well as training, which will help local churches in North America build their missions vision. By facilitating pastors and their congregations, these representatives provide essential help where need is the greatest.

International Missionaries

Brian and Sally Snider

Hello from Seika Cho, Japan, Land of the Rising Sun, We are Brian, Sally and Melody Snider, and we're glad you are visiting with us today. We have been missionaries to Japan for the past 15 years, and are involved in church planting. We are located between the two ancient capitols of Japan, Kyoto and Nara, which are temple and shrine strongholds in this country historically. Buddhism first settled in Japan in this area. Many famous temples and shrines of Japan surround the area. Japan has been resistant soil to the Gospel, but God has helped us to be a light in our community of Seika Cho by means of Kids' Bible Club, Neighborhood Bible Studies, and teaching an English class at the Community Town Hall, as well as planting a church here.
